Sheffield City Council is discussing changes for the Central Library and City Archives building on Surrey Street. The building could become a ‘destination’ art gallery, while the library and archives would be moved to the Millennium Gallery.

There are full details of the proposals online and the Full Council will discuss the matter on 11th November 2026. If the proposed plan is agreed, the next stage will include further further ‘engagement with Sheffield residents, users and stakeholders’.
