Food waste composting on its way
A new Sheffield project, Compost Connection, plans to turn food waste into high quality compost, reducing the amount sent for incineration. Slow aerobic composting develops fungi and other micro-organisms beneficial for soil. The compost assists with active living soil, adding nutrients and improving water and carbon retention.
As well as being an environmentally beneficial business, the Compost Connection will aim to more widely benefit the local community by following B Corp Standards. This makes it an ethical business required to act in the best interests of all stakeholders including the local community and the environment (not only shareholders).
It seems likely to be running from 2025, and the public can register interest in the new venture on the page below, which gives many more details.
